Growing and delivering a baby is one of the most incredible things your body will ever do—but it also places tremendous stress on your pelvic floor.
Leaking Urine After Having a Baby? You're Not Alone.
Feel Strong Again. Laugh Again. Run Again. Trust Your Body Again.
Somewhere between the sleepless nights, diaper changes, and taking care of everyone else...
You got pushed to the bottom of the list.
Maybe you leak a little when you laugh. Maybe you can't jump on the trampoline with your kids. Maybe running doesn't feel the same anymore. Maybe your core still feels weak, even years later.
Or maybe intimacy just isn't what it used to be.
If any of that sounds familiar...
You're not broken. You're postpartum.
And the good news is, your pelvic floor can often become stronger again.
At Ascend Chiropractic in Lincoln, we help women rebuild pelvic floor and core strength after pregnancy with non-invasive technology designed specifically for the muscles that can be difficult to restore on your own.
Emsella strengthens the pelvic floor, while the abdomen applicator strengthens and tones the lower abdominal muscles—giving us the ability to address more of the postpartum core, not just bladder leakage.
Because after having a baby, your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles didn't go through pregnancy separately. Your recovery shouldn't treat them separately either.
Why Does Pregnancy Cause Bladder Leakage?
Motherhood changes your body. It shouldn't take away your confidence.
Your pelvic floor has been through a lot.
For nearly ten months it supported a growing baby.
Then it stretched during delivery—or adapted through pregnancy and a C-section.
Even if your baby was born years ago, those muscles may never have fully recovered.
That can lead to:
- Leaking when you sneeze, laugh, or cough
- Running or jumping becoming "off limits"
- Wearing a liner every day "just in case"
- Feeling like your core never came back
- Abdominal weakness or a persistent "pooch"
- Diastasis recti or separation through the abdominal muscles
- Difficulty activating your lower abs
- Pelvic heaviness or pressure
- Bladder urgency
- Changes in intimacy
- Feeling disconnected from your body
Many moms assume this is simply part of motherhood.
It isn't.
Your pelvic floor is only one part of your core. Pregnancy also stretches and weakens the abdominal muscles that work together with your pelvic floor to stabilize and support your body.
That's why, for some women, strengthening both areas can be an important part of feeling strong again.
"I know I'm supposed to do Kegels...I just can't tell if I'm doing them."
If we had a dollar for every time we heard that...
Here's the truth:
After pregnancy and childbirth, many women lose the connection between their brain and their pelvic floor muscles.
It's not that you're doing anything wrong.
Your muscles simply aren't responding the way they used to.
That's exactly why Emsella can be so helpful.
How Emsella Helps After Pregnancy
Retraining your core to be stronger from the inside out
Emsella uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM®) technology to activate your pelvic floor muscles automatically.
Instead of trying to figure out whether you're squeezing the right muscles...
Emsella does the work for you.
During each comfortable 28-minute treatment, thousands of powerful pelvic floor contractions help:
- Strengthen weakened muscles
- Improve bladder support
- Restore muscle coordination
- Reconnect your brain to your pelvic floor
- Build a stronger foundation for your core
All while you're fully clothed.
No surgery.
No internal treatment.
No downtime.
But What About Your Abs?
Your pelvic floor isn't the only part of your core that pregnancy changes.
If you've ever said, "I just feel like my core never came back after having kids," you're definitely not the only one.
Pregnancy stretches the abdominal wall to make room for your growing baby. After delivery, those muscles don't always regain their previous strength and function on their own.
You may notice:
- A weak or unstable core
- Difficulty activating your lower abs
- A persistent postpartum "pooch"
- Diastasis recti, or abdominal separation
- Difficulty returning to the workouts you used to enjoy
- Feeling like your midsection simply isn't as strong as it used to be
That's where the abdominal treatment comes in.
We'll use both radiofrequency heat and high-intensity electromagnetic energy to stimulate powerful abdominal muscle contractions while simultaneously heating the treatment area.
For postpartum women, our goal goes beyond how your stomach looks.
We want your core to function and feel strong again.
Our Complete Pelvic Protocol can be used to strengthen the abdominal muscles and may be incorporated into your postpartum plan when core weakness or diastasis recti is part of the picture.

Is Emsella Right for You?

You may be a great candidate if you:
✓ Leak after having a baby
✓ Wear liners "just in case"
✓ Avoid jumping, running, or workouts
✓ Feel like your core never recovered
✓ Can't tell if you're doing Kegels correctly
✓ Feel pelvic heaviness or pressure

✓ Simply want to feel stronger again
Whether your baby is 6 weeks old or 16 years old, it's never too late to strengthen your pelvic floor.
Because Your Six-Week Checkup Isn't the Finish Line
Postpartum recovery is about more than being "cleared."
One of the biggest myths we hear is:
"My OB said everything looked good, so I guess this is just how my body is now."
Being cleared to resume normal activities doesn't necessarily mean your pelvic floor has fully recovered.
Many women continue to experience bladder leaks, pelvic weakness, and core instability for years after childbirth—not because healing isn't possible, but because no one told them there were options.
At Ascend, we're passionate about helping women continue their recovery long after the newborn stage.
Because motherhood changes you...
But it shouldn't mean settling for a body that doesn't feel like your own.
After I had my last baby...
"I was avoiding gym days where there was jumping... it's just so nice to not have to worry about it now"
Frequently Asked Questions
about non-invasive pelvic floor retraining
It's very common, especially during the first few months after childbirth. However, if leakage continues or affects your quality of life, treatment can often help improve symptoms.
Yes. Pregnancy itself places tremendous stress on the pelvic floor, so women who deliver by C-section may still experience pelvic floor weakness and benefit from Emsella after receiving medical clearance. The abdominal treatment has also been shown to improve the core stability post-cesarean.
Most women are eligible after their postpartum clearance appointment, typically around six-twelve weeks after delivery (enough time to have the uterus shrink and return to its position!). We'll discuss the appropriate timing during your consultation.
Emsella has recently been FDA-cleared to specifically help with intimate wellness. Research shows a greater sensation, lubrication, ability to climax, as well as a more dynamic pelvic floor which reduces friction or pain with intercourse commonly experienced with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Pregnancy and childbirth can weaken the communication between your brain and pelvic floor muscles. Emsella helps restore this neuromuscular connection by repeatedly activating the muscles via the nerves that supply them through powerful electromagnetic stimulation.
